Oldenburg

Charming Oldenburg is just a half-hour train ride south from Wilhelmshaven. It was first settled in the 8th Century and has a rich history, including being annexed by Napoleon in 1811 and being occupied by British forces after World War II. It's home to the spectacular, gothic St. Lamberti Luthern Church, which anchors a robust shopping plaza. Oldenburg is also home each summer to Kultursommer, a yearly music festival which occurs during our visit. Students enrolled in Storytelling by Smartphone will spend a class day on assignment visiting Oldenburg, capturing photos and exploring this jewel of Northern Germany.
